Evans On August 5, more than 2,883 women and men completed the 60-mile, Avon Breast Cancer 3-day fundraising walk from Ft. Collins to Boulder. Among them were Aurora Orthodontics employees, Sarah Worton and Ann Homrighausen. Everyone has their own reasons for participating, but the end result was the same; to raise money for breast cancer. Walkers raised $4.4 million. The Colorado walk was the fifth in a series of nine fundraising walks taking place across the country this year. Paricipants walked nearly 20 miles a day at their own pace. They were supported by more than 449 volunteer crew members who helped provide hot meals, snack stops, hot showers and comprehensive medical services. Each evening walkers enjoyed camaraderie, entertainment, and sleeping in supplies tents under the stars. Net proceeds generated by the walkers are distributed through the Avon Products Foundation to fund leading national cancer centers, medical centers, service organizations and breast health programs nationwide with a focus on medically under served women.
